The foreign TV drama I watched is
“Revenge”. The tittle of first episode is “Pilot”. It’s a mystery drama. The
first season started in the U.S. from September 2011, and the other season was broadcast
until recently.
The first seen begins with the
heroine speaking to the audience. She tells that she was taught not to take revenge
if something bad was done to you, and this is not a story of forgiveness but a
story of revenge.
The next scene is at a party place
on the seaside. It is the engagement party of the heroine, but she doesn’t
enjoy herself and seems to be plotting something. Her mother-in-law makes a speech
and asks her secretly, “Where is my son?” Then, “Mom! Mom! My brother! Come,
someone! “, her daughter cries. He seems to have been killed by someone.
After this was seen, it is a
flashback to five months ago. The name of heroine is Emily. She comes to
Hamptons. She notices that she came here with her father. She hears about the Grayson
family which is a famous millionaire family that lives in the next mansion, and
they decide to rent the house.
On moving day, her friend Ashley
visits her house. She is an employee of the Grayson family, and invites Emily to
a party. If she can’t sell the tickets, she will be dismissed. Emily answers at
once that she will participate.
Jack is a person whose father
manages a pub. He prepares to go to Haiti on his ship “Amanda” with his
brother. Then, a man called “Nolan” comes to him, and he says he wants the
ship. Jack answers he can’t sell the ship. Nolan says “Do you cherish Amanda so
much?” teasingly.
On the other hand, at the Grayson’s,
the meeting about the party is held by Ms. Grayson and the employees. Ms.
Grayson’s name is Victoria. She plans to auction a picture she has. Her best
friend Lydia ironically suggests to choose the picture she and her ex-husband
presented to the Grayson family because she just got divorced. Victoria says she
will never sell the picture, and comforts Lydia.
Emily goes to the beach, and remembers
the memory of her father of here. Then, Lydia comes to her, and tells her that
she is owner of the house where Emily lives. After she comes home, she watches
a news image of the trial which her father was charged with a false accusation.
His secretary takes down the testimonies, which are lies, and demonizes him.
She is Lydia Davis!
The day before the party day,
Daniel, who is son of Mrs. Grayson, goes home, Victoria and his sister whose
name is Charlotte, are glad. He heard his father whose name is Conrad is going
to play golf. In fact, Conrad is in a hotel with Lydia. Suddenly, he feels
nausea,
and is taken to out of the hotel. Emily meets Lydia there, but Lydia escapes, and
Emily notices the man is Mr. Grayson.
When Jack teaches his brother whose
name is Declan to work in the pub, a banker visits their father and Charlotte
and her celebrity friends also come. Declan falls in love at first sight with Charlotte.
After that, Jack plays with his dog at a park. When Emily walks near the park,
his dog hugs her. Jack apologizes to her. He also falls in love at first sight,
but she leaves directly.
Victoria worries about her husband
and comes to the hospital, and she knows Conrad did not go to play golf but went
to the hotel. She warns him not to let it happen again.
The party starts, Emily goes
around with Ashley, and is introduced to some people. Emily greets Victoria
through Ashley, and calls for Lydia who is near them. Lydia was avoiding
Victoria. Emily purposely tells Lydia in front of Victoria that they met out of
the hotel yesterday and asks if his physical condition got better or not.
Victoria stiffens, and leaves there. Next, Emily approaches Daniel by spilling her
cocktail.
In the pub, the farewell party of
Jack is held. Then, the banker visits again, he begins to talk with Jack’s
father. Jack knows his father is in debt. He worries, and looks at his ship.
The result announcement of the
auction starts, Victoria chooses Lydia as the successful bidder. Furthermore,
the painting is the thing Lydia presented. Victoria also ironically announces
Lydia will leave Hamptons and says to remember our friendship when she sees the
painting. Lydia quietly leaves there.
After the party, Nolan watches the
images of today while ridiculing the celebs. Then, he receives a call from
Jack, and is told to bring the check if Nolan wants to buy the ship. Nolan
directly answers OK. Meanwhile, he finds Emily in the image, and visits her house.
“Welcome back, Amanda”, he says. Emily angrily grabs his neck, and he says to stop.
He says he will help your revenge, but she refuses resolutely. She says she won’t
talk to him if he disturbs her. He says she is scary after turning him into an enemy,
and told her that he met Jack and Jack has regret about Amanda Clark. She says
Amanda does not exist yet.
The first time Emily met Nolan is
the time when she was released from prison, she was friend of Nolan, and had
invested in Nolan’s company. Nolan delivered the key of the safe and her
father’s will. Her father tells her to have a heart of forgiveness about this.
At the last scene, the heroine also
speaks to audiences. “I couldn’t keep his promise. If we are deprived someone
you love, only the feeling of revenge would remain.” On the other hand,
Victoria puts her eyes on Emily, and lets someone to research her.
